Minkyu Kim, 28
Minkyu Kim was born in South Korea in 1995. He studied piano with Soojeong Jeong at Goyang High School of Arts and with Hyung-Joon Chang and Sehee Kim at Seoul National University, and harpsichord with Joohee Oh.
He began his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on a full scholarship from ABRSM after graduating summa cum laude in 2017. He is currently studying for a Doctor of Performance at the RCS with Professor Aaron Shorr and Sinae Lee. As a pianist, he has performed mainly in Korea and the UK, including several lecture recitals. He has also received masterclasses from Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Andrea Bonatta, Ingo Dannhorn, and Leslie Howard. As a researcher, he has edited the last two music sections of the Journal of the Liszt Society (UK), and is currently working with Dr Leslie Howard on a complete thematic catalogue of the works of Franz Liszt.
