Bocheng Wang, 26
Bocheng Wang has performed with the London Mozart Players (conducted by Dominic Peckham), Dulwich Symphony (conducted by Leigh O’Hara), and the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra (conducted by John Wilson). In winter 2017, Bocheng toured North England cities, including Manchester and Newcastle. Since then, he has performed solo recitals across Europe in the UK, Germany, Poland, Denmark, France, and Spain, at famous venues such as Wigmore Hall, King’s Place, Fazioli Hall (Italy), Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Music Hall (Poland), and Pereda Hall (Spain).
As an artist of the Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artist Scheme, Bocheng has performed in many festivals, including PianoTexas (USA), Ferrara (Italy), Oxford, Dartington (UK), and International Musical Artistry Goslar (Germany). He has also taken masterclasses with renowned musicians, namely Richard Goode, Pavel Gililov, Arie Vardi, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Dmitri Alexeev, and Steven Osborne. His competition highlights include winning the First Prize in London’s prestigious Royal Overseas-League Piano Competition (2023), Second Prize at the Windsor International Piano Competition (2022), First and Grand Prize at the Croydon Performing Arts Festival Concerto Competition (2015), Third Prize at the Young Pianist of the North International Piano Competition (2012), and Semifinalist Prize at the Santander International Piano Competition (2018).
Born in 1997, Bocheng received his childhood music studies in China at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music. In 2011, he gained a full scholarship to study at London’s Purcell School for Young Musicians and later attained a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours at the Royal Academy of Music under Professor Christopher Elton in 2020. He also graduated with a Master’s degree with the highest performing award, DipRAM, in 2022, and is now continuing his studies for an Advanced Diploma with Professor Ian Fountain at the Royal Academy of Music. Bocheng’s studies are generously supported by Sir Elton John.
