The Scottish International Piano Competition has been captivating audiences in Glasgow, UK, since 1986. Attracting some of the most exceptional young musicians from around the world, it offers a unique opportunity for pianists to establish themselves early in their careers. With notable past laureates including Sergei Babayan, Pavel Kolesnikov, and Tom Poster, the competition remains a vital force in the development of emerging talent.

The 2023 edition took place from 1st to 10th September and was an unforgettable event. Participants showcased their talents in recital rounds at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, followed by a concerto performance by three finalists with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, conducted by David Niemann. Jonathan Mamora took home the First Prize, while Yilei Hao and Yonggi Woo shared the Second Prize.

A distinguished and internationally acclaimed panel of judges oversaw all stages of the competition, chaired by our Artistic Director, Professor Aaron Shorr. The jury also included renowned concert pianists Ingo Dannhorn, Clare Hammond, Carole Presland, Marc Silverman, Boris Slutsky, and Albert Tiu.
